Prof. Dr. Maximilian von Grafenstein, LL.M.
Prof. Dr. Max von Grafenstein, LL.M., is a lawyer and serial entrepreneur. He has been working as an attorney since 2010 with a focus on intellectual property, internet technology and media law, at iRights Law as a partner since early 2017 and since 2018 as an associate partner due to his appointment as professor at the Einstein Center Digital Future located at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Max also heads the research program "Data, Actors, Infrastructures" and the Legal Tech Startup INNOVATION & LAW at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG). His focus lies on the regulation of innovation, with particular respect to the media industry.
Max has worked in various international and medium-sized law firms as well as in the legal departments of media companies such as UFA and Bayerischer Rundfunk. He also trained as a European film producer at Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris and founded his first startup in 2012 in response to the economic and technological changes caused by the Internet in the traditional media sector - a mobile travel guide with localized documentaries based on augmented reality technology (MAUERSCHAU). In recent years, he led the Startup Law Clinic at HIIG, where he advised more than 100 startups on legal issues.
